And so the World Extreme Championship, recently introduced to the world in Puroresu United, appears for the first time outside that illustrious company. Scarlet Flint was the very first champion but several title changes later, OOKAMI no Chi left Tokyo in possession of the title on its inaugural weekend. Tonight she makes her first formal defence against Crystal Swift, who’s been displaying a much more bloodthirsty attitude ever since breaking free from Summer Newman’s control.
Unsurprisingly, the weapons get broken out (and indeed, broken) early on. OOKAMI’s high-octane pace and Crystal’s newfound freedom to indulge her dark side both play well into the Chivalry is Dead environment, as both come up with unorthodox ways to inflict damage with the ring furniture and other objects. The 160lb OOKAMI gets to show off her strength with an avalanche backdrop driver through a chair that buckles the steel as if it was tin foil; Crystal, in turn, demonstrates her versatility by countering a later superplex attempt into the same battered chair with a sunset flip neck snap followed by a Crystal Kick to OOKAMI’s crown as the latter is hanging off the ropes, which followed up with a coast-to-coast dropkick through that same, much-abused chair. The high impact moves take their toll on both women, making for a short but intense match with wild swings in control. Both competitors get busted open before it’s out, OOKAMI crimson masked down one side of her face while Crystal has a wide gash on her cheek. In the end, OOKAMI manages to reverse a Crystal Clear attempt into her camel clutch with bodyscissors, Blood Moon. Crystal fights and scrambles and manages to reach the rope, but since this is a no-DQ match OOKAMI keeps it applied regardless and eventually Crystal has no choice but to tap.
Your Winner, and STILL World Extreme Champion, OOKAMI no Chi!
But the story doesn’t end there…
As OOKAMI holds her title up in celebration, Crystal schoolgirls her and the referee counts it! One, two three!
NEW World Extreme Champion, Crystal Swift!
Well, that’s the risk of a 24/7 title… as our new champion discovers when she climbs the corner to celebrate and OOKAMI leaps up with a triangle jumping enzuigiri, knocking Crystal all the way down to ringside and right into the barrier. OOKAMI panders to the fans for a moment then leaps all the way from the top turnbuckle and down to ringside with an elbow drop, and a cover. One, two, three!
NEW World Extreme Champion, OOKAMI no Chi!
OOKAMI retrieves her title and starts walking backwards towards the curtain, bowing to the fans – until she’s struck from behind by forearm blows from Scarlet Flint! Scarlet connects with a skull-rattling tornado kick and pins OOKAMI. One, two, three!
NEW World Extreme Champion, Scarlet Flint!
Scarlet grabs her title and makes a hasty exit, and as far as I know that was it for World Extreme Championship action last night. But still – three title changes already, all from one match, and we still have two title matches to go!
